Contact Stylus Profilometry

Contact stylus profilometry measures the displacement of a stylus as it is traversed over a surface. The displacements of the stylus are linearly proportional to the heights of the surface and thus yield the measured surface profile.

The Surface Metrology Lab has about a dozen different Contact Stylus Probe instruments ranging from the more sensitive skidless 3D laboratory equipment, to the handheld skidded units used in manufacturing environments.
